Happy Birthday, Grandad. Happy Graduation Day, Daniel.

Days, months, or years will never take away

The memories and love you brought into our life

You gave us hope and you gave us light

And taught us the importance of happiness in each and every way

You gave us gifts – big and small

You experienced challenges

Especially granny’s stubborn ways

But the biggest gift of all was seeing you both shine through it all

To have a heart as bold as strong as yours

Is what I aspire in life

It made you who you are

The man who opened so many doors

You did not see health as a wall

You had your true love

You filled your family with joy

And picked us up in every fall

I want you to know

That Daniel reminds me you so much

From taking away my fears

And proudly seeing me grow

He graduates today

What a special day for him to do so

You’ve made me realise how it feels

To love someone whatever comes your way

He is very intelligent like you

He gives the biggest hugs

And understands my excitement

Such as seeing animals the zoo

Remember when you didn’t believe I’d eat vindaloo

Or the time you gave me, Phil, and Gaz

Bucks Fizz over Christmas and New Year

And we would cheer with a massive woo

Now I’d like to raise a glass

For making me the luckiest granddaughter

Make sure you watch Daniel go on stage

And cheer with the rest of his class

Happy birthday, grandad

Congratulations to you, Daniel

Let’s fulfil your day with happiness

Make it one of the best you’ve ever had

In loving memory of Geoffrey Pawson, my grandad and also dedicated to Daniel Guy.
